About Hartsbrook
The Hartsbrook School
The Hartsbrook School is one of 270 Waldorf schools in North America and over 1,000 Waldorf schools worldwide. The school was founded in 1981 and offers a highly regarded program to students from pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade. Information about Early Childhood programs and Grades 1-8 at Hartsbrook can be found at hartsbrook.org.
The Hartsbrook School is located in the small town of Hadley, MA in the Pioneer Valley. Situated near the University of Massachusetts and Amherst, Smith, Mt. Holyoke, and Hampshire Colleges, the school community enjoys access to a wide array of cultural and academic opportunities.
Hartsbrook High School was founded seven years ago and is still in its pioneering stage. In the healthy and supportive environment of a small school, students and teachers work together to realize their ideals. Hartsbrook High seeks students who love to learn, have a sense of social responsibility, and are willing to work to develop the capacities needed to take up life’s tasks with confidence.
Self-Administration
Like all Waldorf schools, The Hartsbrook School practices self-administration by a group of teachers and staff who oversee the day-to-day operations of the school. The principal policy making body is the Faculty Conference, which is composed of seasoned teachers with a long-term commitment to the school. The Faculty Conference works closely with the Board of Trustees, which oversees the school’s finances, legal responsibilities, and its long term growth and development.
